Silicone Ice Cube Tray January 30, 2010 Kathleen Edwards (Illinois) LOVE silicone ice cube trays! No more bits of ice around the actual cube -- all the water goes right in. Unlike my other set though, you can't just twist to get the heart cubes out, you have to punch them out from the back. It's OK, just had to get used to it. Nice & big and def heart-shaped! Like these a lot...
Love, love, love my icy hearts! September 12, 2009 Mme. Calico (Woodinville, WA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These have made several batches of ice hearts for us already. We're set to try saving juice concentrates in them next, or mini fruit pops. They are extremely easy to pop out straight into a glass, and make for lovely additions to our party drinks. My own suggestion is that people who buy these have a very flat, easily accessible shelf in their freezers. Because of the silicone, they're not firm, and must be carefully held flat as they're transferred from the sink to the freezer, and laid completely flat to avoid spilling any water (or whatever else you want to put in them).
Non-Silicone Ice Cube Tray August 11, 2009 Ann Jaworski (Chicago) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If this tray is made out of silicone, it isn't the normal, heat resistant stuff that my potholders are made of, because the packaging contains warnings that you should not put anything hot on or near it. Other than that, it seems to be of a good quality, be just as pictured on the internet, and work better than traditional plastic trays for ice cubes. I am a little disappointed that because it isn't heat resistant it cannot double as a jell-o mold or candy mold, but there is a reason that they sell things specifically for molding candy and other hot substances.
hurray! July 6, 2009 Seckmea Finally, an ice tray I don't have to struggle to get ice out of! you can take out one cube or all...and they are cute little hearts! you just push them out. no ice all over the kitchen. no asking someone with stronger arms and hands to "pop" the tray for you. {Something most of my family refuses to do for me anyways} and it is small enough to fit almost anywhere in my freezer. I will be buying more.
Easy to remove ice, not as easy to fill. June 27, 2009 Paulo De Barros (Worcester, MA, USA) Hi, I really enjoyed the product. It is really easy to remove ice from the tray by pressing from behind because the tray is just so flexible. On the other hand, the tray tends to be harder to fill in with water than standard trays because the small ice pockets are not interconnected like it happens in most ice trays, so you can't just hold it close to the faucet and let it fill in by itself. You need to keep moving it around so that it fills completely. This is not something that really bothers me, but it is does not make my life easy either. Anyway, it is a very good ice tray. Its flexibility in removing ice compensates it is supposedly difficulty in being filled with water.
